How Does Muscle Fascia Release?

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE WHEN FASCIA RELEASES?
Myofascial Release Therapy relieves pain and tightness, and tension. Your practitioner will examine your body at the start of a session to find areas of restricted, stiffened tissue and movement. These are the unidentified sources of your body's breakdowns and pains.
Many think "myofascial release" is just massaging trigger points to relax them. But we work on a much bigger picture of what is happening in the body than just trigger points. Trigger points are just the surface causes of pain that make people think their problem is solved when the trigger point is released. They are only disappointed when the trigger point and pain recur.
Unlike loosening muscles and treating trigger points, releasing fascia takes time because it only responds to slow, gentle manipulations. Chronic and stubborn tightness frequently requires a little more persuasion and patience. However, it is important not to be discouraged by the lack of sudden improvement. Tension usually decreases after a few treatments, and mobility improves gradually, sometimes dramatically.
How Will You Feel After Myofascial Release?
Following Myofascial release, you may experience the following symptoms:
- Sore Muscles: As the body flushes out the toxins, aches and pains are common for the first 24 hours after treatment. Some people experience a muscle sensation similar to a gym workout. Take it easy and remember that it is only temporary; it will most likely pass in 24 hours or less. To keep your body hydrated, we recommend drinking plenty of water. This extra water also aids in the prevention of post-session headaches.
Unusual Sensations: During MFR therapy sessions, chronically tight muscles and connective tissue relax and unwind. You may experience unusual sensations in your body after a session. These include muscle twitches and tremors, pulsing, and heat as blood returns to chronically starved areas. This is common, and all symptoms should subside within 24 to 48 hours. Consult your doctor if these unusual sensations persist for longer than one or two days.
What about Myofascial Release's Emotional Impact?
- Emotions: Similarly to how your dreams are your body releasing stored-up emotions, you may feel overly emotional in the days following your treatment as these emotions are released from your body. This is all perfectly normal. Allow them to flow freely through you, and remember that this is a sign that your body is healing. After a session, this is a great time to do self-care rituals. For example, you could try an Epsom Salt bath with calming essential oils to calm your mind and body.
Vivid Dreams: After a session, some people say they have very vivid dreams. When your body is trying to fix itself, you may have a longer REM sleep, also called "dream sleep." It could also be that your body is letting go of old feelings and memories.
As previously mentioned, in relation to emotions and unusual dreams, releasing the fascia can bring up painful emotions from past traumas because we harbor feelings in our fascia. This temporary release of emotions occurs as the body releases and begins to heal. It's critical to remember that this is a passing phase and nothing to be concerned about. This increase in emotion is not a sign that the treatment has made your symptoms worse, and the treatment has not made things worse. However, this increase in emotions indicates that you are healing from past traumas. This process occurs when the body repairs dysfunctional tissues caused by past injuries, illnesses, and accidents.
In addition to the emotional effects of myofascial release, you may experience a "healing crisis" after myofascial release. For instance, you may feel like you have cold or flu-like symptoms or that your original symptoms have intensified.
Sometimes, a healing crisis can be more intense than the disease or illness itself. Remember that it's all temporary and a sign that you're on the road to recovery.
